Full Training

New commencement date

2026

The Sydney Branch of the Australian Psychoanalytical Society (APAS) is planning a training intake to commence training in 2026. Applications will open late 2025 or early 2026. These training intakes usually occur every four to five years.

Psychoanalysts treat complex psychological problems in adults, adolescents and children, by working in the therapeutic relationship with the unconscious processes that underpin them. Psychoanalytic training, whilst challenging, is enormously engaging, providing the opportunity for self-exploration, as well as in depth theoretical and clinical development.
Training in Adult as well as Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis can be completed concurrently.
Subject to approval by the IPA, distance training may be available for those who live outside metropolitan Sydney.

Graduates become eligible for accreditation with both the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA) and Australian Psychoanalytical Society (APAS).
